Which NR courses are mandatory to embark on an offshore platform?
It depends on the role and the operator, but the most required are NR-37 (platforms), NR-35 (heights), NR-33 (confined space) and NR-34 (shipbuilding and ship repair). For electrical roles, NR-10 is also mandatory. Operators usually require valid certificates at the time of embarkation.
What is the validity of NR trainings?
Most NR trainings are valid for 2 years, with mandatory refresher training at the end of this period. Some refreshers, such as NR-35 and NR-33, are also required when there is a role change, return after extended leave or after an incident. Check the specific course for exact dates.
Are the courses in-person or online?
NR offshore trainings are predominantly in-person, as they require PPE practice, anchoring systems, simulated rescue at height and confined space entry. Some theoretical refreshers may have an online portion, but the practical part is always in-person at our Rio de Janeiro facility.
Are certificates accepted by the main operators?
Yes. Our certificates follow the Brazilian regulatory standards (MTE) and are accepted by operators active in Brazil, such as Petrobras, Equinor, Shell, TotalEnergies and Campos/Santos basin flag companies. We issue a digital certificate with QR Code for validation.
How does corporate enrolment for in-company classes work?
We serve corporate demand from operators, shipowners and offshore service contractors. We arrange closed classes in Rio de Janeiro or at the client facility, adjusting the schedule to the team embarkation window. Request a proposal with our sales team.
Do I need any prerequisites to take NR courses?
Most trainings only require a valid Occupational Health Certificate (ASO) for the intended activity and a minimum age of 18. For NR-35 and NR-33, the ASO must declare specific fitness for work at heights and confined space, respectively.
Do you issue documentation in the format required for offshore audits?
Yes. We deliver the certificate, training record and programmatic content as required by operator and regulator audits. All documentation is available for download and can be reissued at no cost during the course validity.
