What you will learn:

  • Regulatory Fundamentals and Work Permit Management — Scope of NR-34 for naval industrial painting, mandatory Work Permit (WP), Preliminary Risk Analysis (PRA) methodology and control of simultaneous operations
  • Explosive Atmospheres and Ex-Rated Equipment in Naval Painting — Hazardous area classification due to solvent vapors, critical 10% LEL threshold, monitoring with explosimeters and grounding against static electricity
  • Chemical Waste Management, Handling and Spill Response — Mixing and storage protocols for paints/solvents, interpretation of the Safety Data Sheet (SDS), secondary containment basins (110% of volume) and spill response
  • Respiratory Protection and Occupational Hygiene in Naval Painting — Respiratory Protection Program (RPP), use of supplied air and SCBA in confined spaces, and biological monitoring via occupational health program (PCMSO)
  • Emergency Response and Inspection Checklist — Specific extinguishing agents for paints and solvents, first aid for chemical exposures and pre-operational checklist for Work Permit issuance
