About the Training

Train professionals to identify electrical hazards and correctly apply the prevention and control measures set out in NR-10, ensuring safety and health during work on low and medium voltage electrical installations, and equipping them to respond to emergencies, tackle incipient fires and provide basic life support.

What you will learn:

  • Objective, Target Audience and Electrical Quantities — Course objective and legal basis (NR-10, NR-16 Annex IV, IEC/NBR standards), covering fundamental electrical quantities and Ohm's and Joule's Laws
  • Hazards in Electrical Installations — Electric shock, electric arc (temperatures up to 20,000°C) and electromagnetic fields, with WHO exposure limits and precautions for pacemaker users
  • Risk Analysis and Control Measures — Qualitative and quantitative risk assessment techniques and use of the risk matrix
  • Electrical Risk Control Measures — NR-10 mandatory de-energization sequence (LOTO, temporary grounding), grounding systems (TN-S, TN-C-S, TT, IT) and high-sensitivity RCDs
  • Technical Standards, Regulations and Work Routines — NBR 5410 (low voltage), NBR 14039 (medium voltage) and MTE regulations on qualification, licensing and training
  • PPE, Collective Protection Equipment and Operational Routines — Specific electrical protective equipment, Work Request (PES), Work Authorization (AES), shutdown types and the Electrical Installation Record (PIE)
  • Additional Hazards — Work at height (NR-35), confined spaces, hazardous area classification (zones 0, 1 and 2) and lightning protection systems (NBR 5419)
  • Emergencies and Electrical Accidents — Fire prevention and firefighting (fire tetrahedron), gas leak procedures and analysis of accidents from direct and indirect contact
  • First Aid and Legal Responsibilities — Emergency response activation, CPR with AED, hemorrhage control, plus legal responsibilities, SESMT, PGR/PCMSO and CIPA

Workers who interact, directly or indirectly, with electrical installations and electrical services (electricians, supervisors, seafarers, occupational safety professionals and other employees exposed to electrical risk)

They are professionals who have served in vessel command, as chief engineers and in dynamic positioning (DP) operations at sea, combining international certifications with years of field experience. This hands-on background ensures learning that is connected to the reality of maritime operations, with real-world examples and a focus on safety.
