About the Training

DP Simulator Course is the third phase of The Nautical Institute's Offshore Scheme, intended for students who have completed the DP Induction course and finished their onboard familiarisation (including completion of the logbook tasks). This training focuses on the practical aspects of Dynamic Positioning (DP) operations. Participants learn to plan and conduct DP operations safely and efficiently, including risk assessment, contingency planning and vessel capability assessment. The course also develops the ability to recognise conditions that may lead to a degraded or emergency operational status, as well as to respond correctly to alarms and warnings associated with worst-case failures.
